ABOUT ME
I'm Julian.
I help people think clearly when the work in front of them asks something different of them.
I know what it's like to reach a point where the way you've always worked, led or thought about your career no longer quite fits.
That's part of what brought me to coaching.

I didn't start my career as a coach.
I spent much of my career in team leadership roles, working in fast-paced environments where people expected decisions to be made, problems to be solved and things to keep moving.
After 30 years, from the outside I had built a successful career. Over time, however, I began to recognise that being good at something and wanting to keep doing it are not necessarily the same thing.
Changing direction into coaching gave me a much better understanding of what happens when the career, identity and assumptions you've built over many years start to shift.
Suddenly, very little felt familiar.
I quickly realised that clarity doesn't usually arrive fully formed. Sometimes you have to create the space to hear what you actually think, then take a step and see what it tells you.
My story shapes the way I coach.
I don't assume that the answer is obvious, or that my job is to give it to you.
I'm interested in what's happening beneath the immediate situation: how you're thinking about it, what you might be avoiding, where you're making assumptions and what the situation may be revealing about you.
Sometimes that means giving you space to think.
Sometimes it means asking a question you weren't expecting.
And sometimes it means challenging something you've said because I think there's more going on.
The aim is to help you see more clearly, trust your own judgement and make choices you can stand behind.
Experience matters too.
My coaching is informed by 30 years of experience in fast-paced organisations, including leading teams, managing change and working through the pressures that come with responsibility.
I trained with The Coaching Academy, completing its Personal Performance Coaching Diploma with Merit. I take the quality of my coaching seriously: continuing to learn, reflect on my practice and challenge myself to get better at what I do.
